• The 2017 Binational Clean Air Calendar edition will be available at no cost on both sides of the border by the end of this year.

Yuma, AZ. - The Regional Center for Border Health, Inc. (RCBH) through the Binational Health and Environment Council Yuma County/San Luis Rio Colorado is pleased to announce the selection of the 13 drawings that will illustrate the 2017 edition of the Binational Clean Air Calendar.

Students from both San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico and Yuma County, Arizona are invited to participate in the annual drawing contest with the purpose of showing the importance of recycling and promoting clean air in our region.

Also, every year an athlete from the border region is invited to dedicate the calendar and the 2017 edition will include Aiti Navarro Vizcarra, 13, from San Luis Rio Colorado, winner of several regional and national competitions in Mexico, including the Gold Medal in the National Gymnastics Competition held in Monterrey, Mexico in November, 2016.

This year, a total of 134 students from Yuma County entered the contest, while 255 students participated from several San Luis Mexico schools.

“It’s always a pleasure to find that every year the students really bring practical and inspiring ideas on how to bring awareness and the importance of taking care of our environment;” said Ms. Amanda Aguirre, President and CEO of the RCBH, and added “it was really a difficult task to select the 13 drawings among a lot of talented and bright drawings, I congratulate all the teachers and students for their participation.”

Recognition will be given to the winners in January, 2017, during the Binational Council of Health and Environment quarterly meeting to be held in Yuma, Arizona.
