“Our Children” Healthcare Community Census and Immunization Campaign will begin in Somerton neighborhoods on Tuesday June 16th, 2015, with the assistance of RCBH Family Care Coordinators
Yuma, Arizona – With a total of 18 students from Cibola, Kofa, San Luis and Gila Ridge High Schools, and PPEP Tech, the Regional Center for Border Health, Inc. has launched the 18th Annual “Our Children / Our Community” Community Outreach Campaign and Youth Leadership Program.
The first session took place this morning at the RCBH Headquarters, where the students were welcome by RCBH President and CEO Amanda Aguirre.
The campaign will run for six weeks starting June 9th, 2015. Participants will learn a wide range of Health related topics, career path and successful job skills, and other related topics; educational sessions will be provided by representatives from local, state and federal agencies, and non-profit organizations (Healthcare, public health and social), higher education institutions, as well as law enforcement agencies.
Also, the students will prepare for their participation at the annual “Our Children” Healthcare Community Census and Immunization Campaign, which since 1998 the RCBH has conducted in the border communities of San Luis, Gadsden, Somerton, and Yuma, Arizona.
“Our Children” Healthcare Community Census and Immunization Campaign will begin in Somerton neighborhoods on Tuesday June 16th, 2015, with the assistance of RCBH Family Care Coordinators.
This outreach campaign is a six-week door-to-door community based census designed to identify and collect information from underserved/disadvantaged families.
The community based-census targets:
- children in need of healthcare coverage,
- children under 36 months and school age children in need of immunizations,
- pregnant women in need of prenatal care,
- families with no medical insurance,
- and families in need of resources.
The Media is welcome to attend any of 2015 “Our Children/Our Community” Community Outreach Campaign and Youth Leadership Program presentations and activities, where there will be a time to talk with the students and the instructors.
