Yuma, Arizona – (May 14, 2015). – Arizona Western College, Northern Arizona University Yuma Branch and University of Arizona Yuma graduates will have Regional Center for Border Health, Inc. President & CEO Amanda Aguirre as the Special Guest Speaker in their 2015 Commencement Ceremony to be held this Friday May 15th, 2015.
According to Dr. Glenn Mayle, AWC President, Ms. Aguirre served as the AWC Director of Services for South Yuma County from 1995-2001. “Based on her accomplishments, her background and her experiences, Amanda Aguirre is a great example to our graduates and our current students. We are lucky to have her,” said Dr. Mayle.
A biography of Ms. Aguirre was shared by the AWC Media Relations Department this week where Ms. Aguirre accomplishments are included, highlighting that in 2003 Ms. Aguirre became the first female and first Hispanic to represent District 24 (new legislative District 4) in the Arizona House of Representatives and in the Arizona State Senate (in 2006) where she served in the Arizona State Senate through 2010. During her time in office, Senator Aguirre had great success in passing key bi-partisan legislation.
The present capacity of Ms. Aguirre as of President & CEO of the Regional Center for Border Health, Inc. (RCBH) and its subsidiary San Luis Walk-In Clinic, Inc. is also highlighted on the document released by AWC.
Amanda Aguirre stated: “It’s just an honor to be part of this important event, not just for our students graduating but the entire Yuma community, we are very proud of their accomplishments in the new chapter of their lives.”
The AWC’s 51st Commencement Ceremony will be held at Veterans Memorial Stadium located at 7150 E. 24th Street, next to Gila Ridge High School, on Friday, May 15 at 8:00 PM.
